PRID Paul Netzel and Diane Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Rotary in the western United States and Canada is vital and secure because of the leadership of our twenty four 2008-2009 Governors, the leaders of over 1300 clubs, and those that do special regional work for membership, youth, literacy, public image, TRF, and many other topics in Rotary. Thank you for a great year!!

A special thank you to Director Paul Netzel and Diane for their great two years of leadership. They have provided continual support to all of us in our various Rotary endeavors; they have represented us well on the board of directors and to Rotarians around the world; and they have continued to exemplify the excellence we have come to expect in Zones 23 and 24 (now 25/26).

The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands

RIP John Kenny RI Theme 2009-10 RI President John Kenny, member of the Rotary Club of Grangemouth, Central, Scotland, & stalwart fan of the Falkirk Football Club wants us to "look beyond the parish pump, we must look beyond our own needs & be aware that ours is only 1 community of 1 country of many in the world"

"There is so much that we Rotarians can do to help... The one thing we cannot do is…. nothing. We can't do everything but we can do our very best!"

Truly, Rotary's future is in our hands.

Birmingham's Success Paves the Way
for Montreal in 2010

The Far West Reception was the kickoff for the Rotarians from Zones 23 and 24 to the Centennial Celebration in Birmingham, England. It started with a WOW and continued WOWING with surprises, great plenary speakers, and informative breakout sessions. It ended with the WOWEST ending any of us have ever seen.

Montreal Convention The 101st Rotary Convention promises to take off from there and for those who have never been to a convention it is a great way to see lots of what this club of ours is and does; starting with your old friends at the Far West Reception in Far Eastern Canada.

NOTE: We are sad to report the passing of past governor Jim "Big Jim" Caldwell earlier this month. Jim was governor of District 5050 in 2000-2001. Our thoughts and condolences go to Anne and his family.

We also mourn the loss of past governor Dick Lohmiller on Wednesday, July 18. Dick was governor of District 5170 in 2007-2008. He was the incoming Far West PETS chair, and the incoming DRFC for his pilot district. Dick's memorial mass will be on Friday, August 7th - 3:00 pm at St. Joseph of Cupertino Church - 10120 N.De Anza Blvd., Cupertino.
