September 8, 2008 Dear Registrant, We are looking forward to seeing you at the 2008 Rotary Institute for Zones 23/24, to be held on September 25-28, 2008, at the Portland, Oregon, Hilton Hotel and Executive Tower, for which you have been registered. The hotel is located at 921 S.W. Sixth Avenue, Portland, OR 97204 (telephone 503-226-1611). On July 7, you received an e-mail outlining various modes of transportation to the hotel, from the Portland Airport, from the Amtrak Union Station and by private car. On July 14, you received an e-mail regarding parking availability and cost at the hotel and in nearby lots. Please note that you need to check in at either the Portland Hilton Hotel lobby OR the Executive Tower Lobby, depending on where your reservation is. Registration will open in the Broadway Foyer at the Hilton Hotel on Thursday, September 25, at 9:00 a.m. The first event is an Opening Reception in honor of the District Governors Elect, at 5:00 p.m. in the Foyer of the Grand Ballroom. The doors to dinner in the Grand Ballroom will open at 6:00 p.m. This first session, which will include the presentation of the District Governors Elect, will be black tie optional, which is traditional. The rest of the Institute will be business casual, except for Saturday dinner, which is business suit and tie. That dinner’s keynote speaker is John Kenny, Rotary International President Elect. Many Rotarians have been working hard all year to make this Institute the best ever. Our theme is “Bridging the Generations”, and you will have the opportunity to learn about the single most pressing challenge facing Rotary today – how to attract and engage four generations of members.
